Overview

Vrtnarski svet — Slovenian for “Gardener’s World” — is a 15-year-old family-run landscaping and garden design business in Jesenice, Slovenia. They handle garden design and planning, planting, lawn installation, slope stabilisation, and year-round maintenance. They’ve completed (their numbers) over 1000 projects for 500+ customers across Slovenia.

In 2021, they needed a website that would represent the depth of their portfolio without becoming a maintenance burden on a non-technical family. Numen built it, hosts it, and quietly maintains it. Five years later it still runs the same way.

What we built

Custom WordPress site. A GeneratePress child theme tuned for a service business — visual portfolio of completed gardens, service breakdown by category, founder bio, contact and inquiry forms. Slovenian-language throughout, with a content structure the family can extend themselves: a custom Gutenberg block library lets them add new service pages, blog posts, and project showcases without touching code.

Inquiry flow. Service-based businesses rarely need a full shopping cart, but they do need a low-friction way to capture serious leads. We built a WPForms-based inquiry flow with anti-spam (honeypot + time-based), GDPR-compliant data handling, and admin notifications that land in their inbox within seconds of submission.

Blog. Three active categories — seasonal advice, project showcases, gardening tips. The family publishes a few articles per quarter; the most recent posts (May, March, February 2026) show the rhythm. Each post has a featured image, SEO meta, and proper hreflang for Slovenian.

Care. Managed cPanel hosting in the EU. SSL auto-renewed via Let’s Encrypt. Transactional email properly configured with SPF/DKIM/DMARC so inquiry replies don’t land in spam. Daily encrypted backups retained for 30 days. Monitoring with 60-second uptime probes from multiple regions. WordPress core + plugin + theme updates tested in staging before production.

Why this matters

This is the third case study under the T4 Care umbrella — alongside Apartments Arh and the broader WordPress care roster. The pattern repeats: a small Slovenian family business gets a proper website once, and then someone with engineering-grade hygiene keeps it that way for years.

The work doesn’t make for impressive technical writeups. There’s no architectural diagram. The line counts aren’t impressive. What matters is the discipline behind a website that just keeps running — backups that restore, monitoring that alerts, security patches applied within hours, content edits handled same-day. The family thinks about gardens, not about their website. That’s the product T4 actually delivers.

03 What I delivered · challenges solved

Six things shipped,
three hard ones solved.

Key contributions

  • Designed and built the Vrtnarski svet website on WordPress with a custom GeneratePress child theme — clean Slovenian-language layout, photography integration, service breakdown by category.
  • Built the inquiry/quote-request flow using WPForms with anti-spam, GDPR-compliant data handling, and admin notification routing.
  • Set up the company blog with three active categories (seasonal advice, project showcases, gardening tips) — the client publishes a few articles per quarter.
  • Configured managed cPanel hosting: SSL via Let's Encrypt, DNS records, transactional email with SPF/DKIM/DMARC, daily encrypted backups, 60-second uptime probes.
  • Five years of T4 Care: WordPress core + plugin + theme updates tested in staging before production, security patches applied within hours, content edits as requested.

Challenges solved

  • Slovenian-language content authoring for a non-technical client — built a Gutenberg block library so the family can add new service pages, project showcases, and blog posts without involving a developer.
  • Service-based business with no e-commerce but high-trust signal needs — solved with a project-portfolio template (visual proof) + structured contact form (low-friction inquiry) instead of a generic 'Contact us' page.
  • Seasonal traffic spikes (spring + autumn) without dedicated infrastructure budget — solved with aggressive page caching, lazy-loaded gallery images, and a CDN for static assets.
T4 Care isn't glamorous, but it's where trust is built. Five years of plugin updates, content edits, and the occasional Saturday-morning panic email — none of which the family worries about anymore. That's the product.
